Ode to iPhone, or, An Obsession Begins

I remember when I first got an iPod. It changed my world. Colors seemed a bit brighter, the air a bit sweeter. Well, as sweet as it can be when you live on South Street above Lorenzo's. Which, in retrospect, was pretty sweet in its own way. Having my entire music catalogue at my fingertips was such a rush, such a total mind bender. Whatever I wanted to listen to, I could listen to, right then and there.

But I digress.

This weekend I received a gift which makes the iPod and the entire experience surrounding my first purchase (and second purchase after I broke the first one...and third as a gift after I broke the second one...) pale in comparison.

I give you...iPhone.

Oh iPhone. How certain I was that I didn't need you. How silly and wasteful I thought you were. Now, I know that was just ignorance talking. For you - oh, you - have changed my life in two short days.

Where do I even begin? Well, not needing earbuds or a docking station to listen to my music is a big plus! I almost fell over and killed myself while dancing in the shower yesterday. True story.

Then there's the games. Oh, Sim City, it's been so long. Monopoly, I don't even need to cheat to win you. Price is Right, it's way harder to guess the prices in Plinko than you'd think.

Then there's all the other priceless apps which I'm sure I'll get tired of in, like, a week. I love being able to look up recipes, coupons, workout tips, my Facebook updates, my bank balance, all at the push of a button or two while I sit on the train.

My world will never be the same...

(Oh, and it's a phone, too!!!)

***EDIT*** I just went to Borders and pulled up a 20% off coupon that I found through a coupon app and it actually worked! All the girl had to do was enter the numbers in the barcode. Yet another reason I love this thing! Now if only I could find a way to play with it at work...

***Edit #2*** That blanket behind me in that picture? Yeah, I made that.
