My Year in Blogging

Blogging is a wondrous thing.

It affords a blogger the opportunity to make great friends and to become part of an infinitely large community.  I know that it's expanded my world in all sorts of unforeseen directions in the past year.  I mean, before I started blogging in a more serious manner, I had no idea that it would be so easy to make apple dumplings! Not to mention cinnamon rolls, which have become a beautiful and cherished part of my life and could possibly be a holiday tradition from here on in.

It never occurred to me that anyone might be so impressed with my chocolate pudding cake recipe that they'd want to make it for a birthday party - but someone did, and they loved it.

Turns out, lots of people like deviled eggs.  Who knew?

Blogging affords me the opportunity to look back and reminisce over the weekends we spent in this house before we moved in, trying to make some room for ourselves in the midst of 30 years of possessions.  The move was an emotional thing, for sure.  I sit here now, almost a year later, and realize how far we've come since then.  It took a lot of work, but it was worth it.  Now it actually feels like a home, not just a house with some stuff in it.

Plus, I still can't believe we got those couches upstairs.

Three.Holidays.Hosted.  I think that sums it up.

I've met people from across the country and overseas.  I've come to regard many of these people as friends - friends I cheer for, pray for, laugh and cry with.  My eyes have been opened to new ways of living, and to the fact that we all have something we struggle with from time to time but through it all, we can turn to each other.

Thank you, friends, for sharing your lives with me.  I hope that we can continue together in 2011!

Coming soon: Resolutions - to make or not to make?

I'm writing for you. I'm speaking to you.

So I would like to hear from you in return. Did that story make you laugh, or think? Does that recipe look good? Do you relate to me or totally disagree?

Let me hear what YOU think!
