Friday Miracle

Hello, everyone! How was your week?

In light of the fact that today is Friday (yippee!), I'm going to make a list of things I like, and one of things I am not the biggest fan of, at the present moment.  For me, Fridays are generally a good time to assess what's happening in life, to look back on the past week and forward to what lies ahead.  Plus I have nothing better to do right now.  So let's begin.

Things I Like:

We're having a new bed delivered today! Our current bed is 10 years old and while that's hardly ancient...well, it's seen better days.  Unfortunately, most of those better days were seen prior to my entrance into the life of the owner of the bed, aka Rob.  Don't get me wrong, I can sleep like a baby on that thing.  But it will be nice to have a bed that is just ours, not one which became mine after we got together.  And can I get an "Amen" for the fact that the old bed is being removed for us?

I've had a lot of time over the past several days...more like the past two weeks...to think through a lot of issues which have been needing to be addressed.  Work = S-L-O-W, in other words, so I've been jotting thoughts down on a legal pad/sticky notes/in Word.  My goal is to get these thoughts together in a coherent fashion one day in the not-so-distant-future.  Like in a book or something.

I know I didn't take pictures to share with you guys because I was deeply unsure as to how it would turn out, but can I just tell you how thrilled I am that we tried Indian food for the first time last weekend and we both loved it? Clearly I did not even bother trying to get a certain parental figure to eat any - I made spaghetti and he was glad when I told him the alternative - but Rob and I both practically licked our plates.  So now I can say that chicken tikka masala is something I can make and not eat all by myself (although I love it so much I'd be more than happy to eat it all by myself).  I'm making another dish tomorrow (whose name escapes me at the moment) and trying naan for the second time.  I never thought I'd take a second look at the Curries chapter of Jamie Oliver's cookbook, but here I am, with my husband actually encouraging me to do so.  This time I'll take pictures and share with you, I promise!

We have a plans-free weekend ahead of us, which is a good thing because the next 2 weekends are full of things to do.  My little brother...my little baby brother...is turning 16 next weekend.  Did you hear the gray hairs screaming from my scalp? Because I'm pretty sure I did.  Anyway, there may or may not be a party involved.  You'll be hearing more about it.  I'm sure you'll also be hearing all about how I can't believe he's growing up, and while we're at it I can't believe my sister's growing up, sunrise, sunset, sniffle sniffle (just warning you).  The day of his birthday is also my mom's birthday (I'll leave her age out of it because I do think she reads this - at least my sister does and she's a snitch).  AND it also happens to be Rob's dad's birthday.  What are the odds?

Things I'm Not A Fan Of:

Humidity.  I'm tired of melting and of not being able/inclined to run errands at lunchtime because 95 degrees + 157% humidity does not equal a happy Jen.  It really does not.

And...that's it.  Wow.  I can honestly say that the weather is the only thing I'm unhappy about at the present moment.

THAT, my friends, is a Friday miracle, right there.

Since when am I considered a snitch?? Thanks Jen. D-:
I make fun of her age just as much as you do behind her back. ...and I'm pretty sure she does read this--just not a whole lot.

I don't do it behind her back, though. Grow a spine, kid! ;-)

i can't wait to see your recipes for the Indian food. It's one of several cuisines that intimidate me, both to eat and to cook.

and congrats on the new bed. there's something to be said for buying something that both of yours. :)

I'm with you on the humidity thing! It has been raining off and on like crazy here. This morning my backyard looked more like a pond.

Hey Jen, just letting you know we are still out here should you decide to return (and even if not). Hope all is going well.

You seemed to be interested, today marks the beginning of me changing my on line identity. Will take a full year to accomplish the feat, but eventually I will become 2Ways2Cook. That sums me up better than the limiting YearontheGrill.

But aside from that, I do hope all is continuing to go well for you and you are finding your place in the world

I'm writing for you. I'm speaking to you.

So I would like to hear from you in return. Did that story make you laugh, or think? Does that recipe look good? Do you relate to me or totally disagree?

Let me hear what YOU think!
